"LEGENDS OF JAZZ"

The "Legends of Jazz" is a series of fine pen drawings depicting a select group of musicians. Each drawing combines traditional portraiture with experimental cartoons, depicting the likeness of the musician made up of tiny cartoons insprired by the artist's compositions and lives. The series includes John Coltraine, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Sun Ra, Eric Dolphy (seen here) and Miles Davis. The drawings are on display at Sublime Cafe 219 Augusta Kensington Market until Sept 08. The cafe is perfect for the installation as it specializes in jazz. Sublime featues an extensive collection of rare records, available for listening and purchase, as well as live jazz on sundays.
